Pastoral Care

The pastoral centreAbout the Pastoral Team

Whilst Spring Harvest is primarily a time of celebration, learning and relaxation, a number of Guests may come with personal concerns (for instance bereavement, long term illness or relationship problems), or may be challenged at the Event by some of the issues raised in the teaching. Many will find the support they need from family or their church, but others may welcome opportunity to talk and pray in confidence with someone neutral.

About the Pastoral Centres

Each Resort has a Pastoral Centre run by qualified and/or highly experienced pastoral workers recruited for each week. The centres will be clearly signed, and details will be available on-site in the Programme Planner A – Z section, under Pastoral Care. The team will be pleased to offer support during the week, and will be able to advise where you may find continuing Christian help after the Event should you need it. Literature is also available on various topics which you may find useful.

Becoming a Pastoral Support Volunteer (formerly 'Guest Pastoral')

The Pastoral Team is supplemented by a small number of unpaid support volunteers, who have booked their own accommodation at Spring Harvest as guests. These will be qualified and/or experienced pastoral workers. Applications must be made in advance of the Event and acceptance is subject to a satisfactory reference and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance through Spring Harvest. (See further details of the CRB process at the bottom of this page). Your participation at the Event will be subject to the guidance and direction of the Pastoral Team Leader.

Becoming a Prayer Support Volunteer (formerly 'Guest Prayer Ministry')

Could you join the Guest pastoral team? Each year Spring Harvest recruits a large number of Prayer Support Volunteers who are available to pray with guests after Celebrations in the Big Top. Volunteers are drawn from Spring Harvest guests who have already booked their own accommodation. There is no ministry gift for this role, but these volunteers form a highly valued part of Spring Harvest, supporting other guests in prayer. Your participation at the Event will be subject to the guidance and direction of the Pastoral Team Leader and we would expect you to be involved in a similar capacity within your church.

Applications must be made in advance of the Event, and acceptance is subject to a satisfactory reference and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance through Spring Harvest. (See further details of the CRB process at the bottom of this page). Your participation at the Event will be subject to the guidance and direction of the Pastoral Team Leader.

CRB checks for Spring Harvest

To comply with 'best practice' in the recruitment of those who serve in a position of trust with Children and Vulnerable Adults, all Spring Harvest volunteers need to undergo a reference check, and hold a valid Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Enhanced Disclosure issued by Spring Harvest. If you do not already have a current Disclosure, a CRB pack will be sent to you once you have submitted your application. The pack contains a CRB application form and all the information you need.

When you have completed your CRB form, you will be able to take it with the necessary documents to a local post office, and ask for them to be checked using the Verif-y process. The cost of this service will be met by Spring Harvest.
