Children's team
We run a full age-appropriate programme for children from 3 months up to 11 years. We cater for three age groups:
Why serve with the children?
The Childrens Team is a vital part of the family aspect of Spring Harvest. We're looking for committed Christians who are willing to be enthusiastically involved in serving as part of the Under 5s Team, 5-7s or the 8-11s Team.
At Spring Harvest, children can enjoy lots of activities including crafts, painting, stories, worship and drama. You will learn the latest Children's songs and actions pick up a wealth of experience and great ideas that you can take back to your own Children's work or church.
Would you enjoy playing an active part in developing the Childrens' relationship with God? You will need bags of energy but also have patience and the wisdom of an adult
perspective. One thing you can guarantee is that you will have fun and memories worth cherishing.
What will I do on a Children’s Team?
-
Care and take responsibility for a small group of children or an individual child needing one-to-one care.
- Teach Biblical truths through stories, craft, games, music, drama etc
- Provide age appropriate care for young children.
- Join in daily team meetings, prayer and worship.
- Prepare materials, set up and close down venues, and take on any tasks necessary to aid the smooth running of the programme.
- You may be required to attend a training or planning
day in the run up to Spring Harvest's Main Event but
this will be confirmed to you separately if applicable
to you.
Children's Team Door Stewards
If you can be firm, polite and diplomatic to help steward the Children's venue entrances and ensure the Childrens safety, this role might appeal to you. It is a chance to support the Children's team without directly involving yourself in the messy bits! Please state clearly when you give us your contact details (See How to apply) so we know that you'd like to be a
Children's Team Steward.
What do I need?
- A love of Christ and his people and to be committed to a lifestyle in keeping with Biblical principals.
- Willingness to leave aside any denominational emphasis.
- Commitment to pray for and with the children before and during Spring Harvest.
- Ability to serve in a team and respond positively to leadership.
- Appropriate physical resilience to cope with the
demands of young children!
Who will I be serving with?
Our teams include volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, split into smaller teams and are assigned to specific age groups and led by an Area Leader. The leaders who have oversight of the entire team are very experienced Children's and Youth workers responsible for popular Children's work throughout the UK.
What are the hours?
- Under 5s: each morning, afternoons and some evenings (for babysitting*)
- 5–7s: each morning, some afternoons and evenings.
- 8–11s: each morning and early evening.
- You'll be spending quite a lot of time on your feet and there will be some heavy lifting.
- Please bring clothes which will not be spoilt by paint, glue, water or general Children's mess! Prepare to get stuck in to arts & craft and to possibly get dirty. (We do go outdoors too!)
- You will be asked to be at your Venue early to help prepare and set up and after the session has finished to pack away, please be aware this could mean a very early start. The 5-7s Team may have afternoon meetings to plan ahead or review the morning session and it is expected that every team member attends these meetings.
*Babysitting is offered to lone parents/carers at Spring Harvest without the support of a Church or group. Every U5s volunteer will be expected to take part in the provision of babysitting and this will be organised on a rota basis by your Programme Leader at the start of the week.
