Special Needs teams
Spring Harvest welcomes all children and young people into the programmes, and seeks to be an inclusive and safe place for all. We are looking for people with skills and experience to help us maintain a high standard of care and support for those with special care needs in both our Youth and Children's programmes.
Youth Team Special Needs Helpers
We aim to ensure that every young person in the Youth programme has an opportunity to take part. If you have experience supporting young people with special needs, both practically and spiritually, we need you!
As well as experience, you'll need lots of energy and enthusiasm on top of a desire for Jesus to be made known to young people (no matter what their backgrounds or personal experiences). You will be responsible for the multi-sensory area based in the Youth venues.
Childrens Team Special Needs Helpers
You could be a great addition to our team if you have experience with children who have special care needs, or you are a caring person with a heart to learn.
At Spring Harvest we aim to provide suitable activities and care for every child and we especially need people who have experience in using sign-language.
ยป If you'd like to serve in this way, apply to the childrens team and when you provide your contact details (see How do I apply?), let us know that you wish to be a part of the Special Needs Team. If necessary we will ask to see copies of any current and relevant certificates.
What are the hours?
Youth Team
You will be serving in programmes that run throughout the morning and evening, with the possibility of involvement in some seminars and workshops in the afternoon. Although serving
young people for a week may be tiring, we believe you'll also find it immensely rewarding!
Childrens Team
- 5-7s Team: will be required to serve throughout the morning.
- 8-11s Team: will serve mornings and early evenings.
- Under 5s Team: will serve two morning sessions and an afternoon session.
All age-groups: There may be some additional evening requirements throughout the week.
Who will I be on Team with?
Youth Team
You will be serving with a whole range of people, from Bible teachers, worship leaders and speakers to DJs, pastoral leaders and other Youth Team volunteers.
Being able to serve as part of a team is essential in order to support the young people as they meet with God during their week at Spring Harvest. Within the Youth Programme each week, there is an appointed Special Needs Coordinator who holds relevant qualifications and experience. Additionally, there will be two Special Needs Helpers each week who are volunteers and the three of you will serve as a mini-team within the Youth programme to ensure that young people with special needs are supported, encouraged and included in the programme.
Childrens Team
You will be serving in a group of approximately six Special Needs Helpers within the Children's Team (which consists of approximately 50 volunteers each week). The Children's Team is led by a
qualified Team Leader who is also supported by a Deputy and around 5 Area Leaders. You will be serving with a highly experienced Special Needs Coordinator who works alongside the Team
Leader.
