Stewarding Team

Are you bursting with energy and enjoy testing your stamina? Do you thrive on variety in your day and team work? If so, you should join our Stewarding Team! You'll get an exclusive behind the scenes view of how Spring Harvest takes shape and no other volunteer role has so many different responsibilities! Being a steward is all about team effort and multi-tasking.

The day is long and can be both physically and mentally demanding so you need to be in good shape and full of enthusiasm. It won't take long to learn your way round the Resort, and you'll soon get to know the other friendly stewards.

What will I be doing?

  • Stewarding TeamUshering in the venues: Seating Guests and ensuring noise is kept to a minimum during meetings, distributing hand-outs, ensuring only authorised photographers take pictures in your venue.
  • Venue Stewarding: Tidying the venue before and after each seminar, putting out enough seats, monitoring ventilation and room lights. Clearing any health and safety hazards and ensuring the venue is ready so that sessions can begin on time. You may be using a radio to communicate with the Chief Steward.
  • Queue control:  Checking wrist bands, monitoring age of people attending and ensuring venues are not filled to beyond capacity.  You'll also be assisting those with disabilities attending the session.
  • Literature Distribution: Handing out copies of our daily news sheet, Harvest News each morning and other promotional literature through the day.
  • Logistics: Move and arrange seating and equipment, normally within tight time frames and often from one venue to another. Team work comes into it's own during these times!
  • Stewarding TeamRelaying Messages: Run messages between leaders and venues.
  • Directing Traffic: Direct Guests to relevant car parks on arrival and help with traffic control.
  • First Response: If an emergency occurs, you may be required to alert the First Aiders or begin an evacuation process. Full briefing is given when you arrive.
  • Stewarding Fellowship: Join in prayer meetings each morning and weekly communion. You'll be based in the Steward’s Lounge, ready for action when the Chief Steward needs all hands on deck!
  • Bonus Feature: You'll be in seminar venues whilst the various Programmes are taking place, so whilst you are carrying out your role you can also enjoy the Programme!

What are the hours?

  • Stewards serve long hours as the programme runs in simultaneous venues across the Resorts throughout the day
  • Typically, you would often serve from 7:30am  to about 11:30pm, with breaks for meals and possibly some short breaks in quieter times of the day.
  • We only accept stewards for one week as it is a tiring role - you may only serve two weeks if you have a Spring Harvest 'Week' off in between.

What do I need to bring?

  • Bring clothes for all weather as conditions in April are unpredictable!
  • A waterproof / wind-proof jacket will be a great companion
  • Comfortable waterproof shoes are a must as you'll be on your feet all day and may find yourself needing to walk outdoors whilst it's raining or muddy.
  • You will be issued with a high visibility tabard vest for the week. You will need to wear this over your clothes throughout the week as it identifies you as a member of the Stewarding Team to our Guests.
  • Bring a bottle for cold water/squash as you'll need to keep yourself hydrated through the day to keep your energy up! A source of warm and cool drinks will be available to you in the Stewards Lounge.
  • For more details - why not join the Spring Harvest Discussion forum where many stewards share tips and suggestions. To join in the discussions click here

Other info...

  • You'll be on your feet for most of the day and there will be some heavy lifting
  • Please get plenty of rest in the week before you arrive at the Resort (particularly if serving on another team first or if this is your first time on the Stewarding Team)
  • If you'd like to steward and be a volunteer for more than one week, stewarding must be your second week.
  • If you have any medical illnesses (even if not disclosed to family) we ask you to disclose this information in your application so that we do not put you in a vulnerable situation. Any medical conditions disclosed will be kept in strict confidence. We also ask you to let us know if any illness/injury develops or changes between the time of your being accepted and you arriving at the Event.  This will not necessarily mean you lose your place on Team, but we may have to reconsider what tasks can be allocated to you.
