Additional Needs

At all times, we do our best to accommodate everyone within the programme and we seek to be an inclusive and safe place for all children, whatever their level of need.

What are Additional Needs?

This includes any need your child may have that means that they require a little extra care and attention.

 This may include:

  • Physical or sensory needs
  • Communication difficulties
  • Behavioural issues
  • Learning difficulties
  • Medical conditions
  • Circumstances which mean your child may need extra support, for example an allergy or if they do not speak English or have recently experienced bereavement.

Tell us about your child's needs

If you're a parent or carer of a child who needs more care than most children, please read the information below then let us know about your child's care needs via our on-line form which will be on this site from September. If you would like to be told when the form is available please email joy.townhill@springharvest.org and I will let you know.

  •
  • If you're a young person (over 11) and would like to ask for extra care in your programme, please email us brief details and the name and phone number of someone else we can also talk to.

What we can provide

We have a dedicated team who provide support for children with additional needs within the larger group, but sadly there are limiting factors on our provision because of finite resources and availability of skilled team members.

Even if your child does not need one-to-one care we may need to ask you to stay in the programme until the team is confident that he or she has settled or until the leaders are satisfied they can provide good care.  Please note that we are unable to provide one-to-one care so if your child needs that level of support a family member or trusted friend may accompany them in the programme.

More information about our provision

Please see our additional needs information sheet which explains our provision at Spring Harvest, and also includes guidelines for anyone who will be remaining with a child during the programme.

Could you join our additional needs team at Spring Harvest?

We will be looking for specialists to work alongside teens and young people who have additional needs. If you're experienced in helping young people access their programmes and in facilitating their worship and learning - we would love to hear from you.

We recognise that for some people the term Special Needs is unhelpful and we are changing the term, where possible, to Additional needs.
